There were an estimated 2.4m creative industries jobs in the UK between April 2024 and March 2025, according to data published by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

The estimate for creative industries jobs represents about 7 per cent of total UK employment, and the number is about 2 per cent up on the official figure for creative jobs in 2021-22.

Around 30 per cent of creative industries jobs are self-employment.

The creative industries account for the majority of jobs in sectors overseen by the DCMS (other sectors include tourism, gambling, sport, and civl society).

Jobs within the creative industries range from software developers and IT roles in creative organisations to employees in music, film and TV, architecture and many other creative categories.

The biggest employers among creative categories are in IT and software, music and the performing arts, film and TV, advertising and marketing and cultural organisations.
