screen sectors add £6bn of value
The economic contribution of the UK's film, TV, animation and games sectors has been valued at more than £6bn a year.
A new report attempts to put a full value on the combined impact of the film, high-end TV, video game and animation sectors on UK's employment, value creation and tax revenues.
The authors - Olswang SPI and Nordicity - have produced the new assessment for the BFI, Pinewoood Shepperton, the British Film Commission, Ukie and Pact.
It estimates that in total these screen-based sectors account for 142,700 full time equivalent jobs, about £6.2bn of Gross Value Added and £1.83bn in tax revenues.
The report attempts to quantify so-called spillover and multiplier effects from these sectors as well as direct economic benefits.
