The UK's creative industries continue to outgrow the rest of the economy, generating £87.4bn of value for the country during 2015.

This led to a 7 per cent rise in the creative industries' Gross Value Added (GVA) for the year, compared to the average rise of 2.3 per cent across the economy, according to DCMS estimates.

Since 2010, the GVA of the creative industries has increased by 34 per cent, compared to the average growth of 17.4 per cent a year for the UK economy during the same period.

Creative industry jobs also increased by 5.5 per cent in 2014, more than double the 2.1 per cent national average rise in UK employment.

When the 1.8m jobs specifically in the creative industries are added to the number of creative jobs in non-creative organisations, the total UK creative economy accounted for 2.8m jobs.

Creative services exports from the UK grew by 3. 5 per cent to £17.9bn in 2013, the most recent available data. Exports of services from the creative industries accounted for 8.7 per cent of total exports of services for the UK in 2013.

In recent years, there have been notable export successes in music, games, design, TV and film, amongst other categories, and the 'Create UK' strategy supported by government and industry is designed to increase the number of UK creative exporters further.

A drive to encourage more UK exports, including by creative businesses, has been launched as part of the GREAT Britain campaign.
