Tax reliefs support over 15,000 video game jobs

Figures collated for the Screen Business 2021 report published by the BFI show that:

  • Total spend/turnover relating to video game development in the UK was £2.77bn
  • Gross Value Added (GVA) generated by all videos developed, published and sold in the UK was £5.12bn
  • Spend in the UK supported by the Video Games Tax Relief is £860.4m. Between 2017 and 2019, spend rose by 22.8 per cent.
  • Return on tax relief was estimated at £1.72 for each £1 invested.
